Harvard Moves was first staged as a way of drawing the global Harvard alumni community together during the pandemic-induced lockdowns. The impact was phenomenal. Over 2,500 participants in all fifty state and one hundred countries raised money towards financial aid (the Harvard College Fund). People ran, walked, hiked, biked, boarded, rollerbladed and even swam. Most importantly, people had tons of fun and now do it annually to experience the special feeling of being connected to a truly global Harvard community.
